Natural Foods That Help Burn Belly Fat

For long now people have debated on this topic. While some articles and experts preach that nature (or science) have produced some miracle fat burning foods, others are quick to point out that what actually counts is simply your overall calorie burn to calorie consumption ratio. In fact, there is no dearth of dieticians who quickly dismiss the supposed fat burning properties of natural foods and herbal concoctions as irresponsible myths. The question then is - who do we believe? Are there any natural foods that burn belly fat or not?

The truth is that there are no natural foods that directly burn fat. When physical trainers and diet experts say that what eventually counts is whether you are burning more calories than you are consuming, they are right. However, you have to consider that there are several factors that effect your actual metabolic rate (how many calories you burn). One of these is your diet. There are certain natural food items that promote the production of the right hormones and chemicals to speed up your metabolism and accelerate the rate at which your body burns fat. In other words, there are indirectly.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is one of nature's most powerful spices when it comes to fat loss, and that is because it directly helps in controlling your body's blood sugar level. In fact, a study published in Diabetes Care, a medical journal, shows that consuming 3-6 grams of cinnamon a day can reduce fasting blood glucose levels by up to 29%. Cinnamon also helps maintain a high level of insulin sensitivity, and together these two factors directly boost your body's ability to fight fat. The best part is that cinnamon is an extremely versatile spice, and can be added to desserts, main course dishes and drinks.

Broccoli and Cauliflower

In modern urban life, you are constantly exposed to harmful chemicals known as xenoestrogens. Studies have shown that these chemicals promote the storage of excess fat in your body. Unfortunately, with the amount of chemical compounds used in food these days and the high levels of environmental pollution, it is almost impossible to escape xenoestrogens. However, by consuming cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower, you can fight off the harmful fat storing effects of this chemical. In short, these greens are some of nature's most effective fat burning foods.

Nuts

You may be surprised to see this addition to this list of foods that burn belly fat, considering that nuts are high in calories and contain 75-90% fat content. However, the fat contained in all kinds of nuts is healthy, and nuts are also rich in protein, antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. Protein-rich foods help fight hunger and maintain your body's muscle mass, both of which are essential for weight loss. Also, with their micronutrients, nuts help your body maintain a high level of fat burning hormones.

So, whatever your preference (walnuts, pistachios, Brazil nuts, almonds etc.), a handful a day will do you no harm. You could also try nut butters, such as peanut butter, almond butter, macadamia butter or pecan butter.

Bear in mind that the fat burning effect of these foods is indirect, so do not begin treating them like magic potions. To lose weight, you will still need to make the right choices in terms of diet and exercise. However, if you complement your efforts with these fat burning foods, you will certainly see accelerated results. To learn more go to NEXT PAGE at http://manyweightlosstips.com

5 Tips: How to Tell Someone They Need to Lose Weight

If you know someone who needs to lose weight, it's important to approach the situation gingerly should you decide to tell them they need to lose weight. Make sure you're coming from a true place of love rather than a place of anger, embarrassment or disgust. Telling someone they need to lose weight can be a very tricky situation so it's important to have a plan before you address the situation. Here are 5 tips on how to tell someone they need to lose weight.

1. Plan out your conversation - How will you approach the subject? No need to write out a script but you'll need to think it through. The last thing you want to do is hurt your dear friend, family member or significant other's feelings.

2. Identify with the person - Identifying with the person is a great way to begin a conversation. What do I mean by identifying? Find a way to connect with them regarding weight loss and/or health. Admit you want or need to lose weight. If you don't need to lose weight, sparking up a conversation about the fact that you want to become healthier might be the perfect lead in to a conversation about weight loss. In addition, by admitting you want to improve yourself may put the other person at ease. You can even offer to embark on this journey with them. Often times, success comes when people can hold each other accountable.

3. Approach it from a medical standpoint - State facts about health and wellness rather than giving your opinion on weight loss. Letting someone know they can drastically improve their health, relieve joint pain, lower blood pressure and cholesterol to name a few sounds much better than you telling them they should simply do it to look better. Make sure you're prepared with facts from reputable institutions that you can rattle off.

4. The happiness factor - Has your friend or relative been unhappy since they gained weight? Point out that you've noticed they aren't as happy as they used to be. Let them know that since they gained weight, that person has become distant, isn't attending friend or family functions and seems reserved. Help them determine why they aren't happy. Is it just the weight gain or something else? If necessary, help your friend or family find help to address underlying issues first followed by weight loss help. You've got one life so it's really important to live it to the fullest. Everyone deserves the chance to really enjoy life.

5. Offer suggestions - Do you research and offer weigh loss suggestions. Make sure to have an array of options including weight loss diet programs, fitness trainers to help them, websites they can reference and even weight loss spa programs they could attend to get a jump start.

The last thing you want to do is hurt someone's feelings or turn them against you. It's important to really think your conversation through and decipher which route is best for you. Weight is usually such a fragile subject so make sure your intentions are for the other person and not yourself.

Are You Tired of Stubborn Fat Deposits Around Your Thighs, Stomach, 'Love Handles,' or Upper Arms?

Tumescent liposuction is a procedure intended to remove targeted areas of fat in order to sculpt the body. During the procedure, a suction device removes fat deposits from underneath the skin. This popular procedure can leave your body looking smoother and more toned by removing fat cells, though it should not be used as a weight loss procedure.

Ideal candidates for tumescent liposuction procedures are adult men or women who are in good overall health. Patients should be at a stable weight for the past year, and be at or near their goal weight, before considering liposuction. Although popularly known as a way to lose fat, liposuction is not a weight loss surgery; if you are significantly overweight, consider following a weight loss plan before undergoing liposuction. This procedure is intended for those who have specific pockets of fat they wish to remove, rather than those whose excess fat is evenly distributed in many body areas.

Tumescent liposuction differs from other liposuction techniques in the injection of fluid to numb the tissue and break apart the fat deposits for easier removal. A large volume of the tumescent solution is injected before the fat removal process begins. Once it has numbed the skin and broken apart stubborn fat deposits, the surgeon inserts a cannula (a thin metal tube) through incisions in the skin. Tumescent liposuction requires several short incisions, less than two to three millimeters long, enabling the doctor to access the underlying layer of fat.

The liposuction process takes between 30 minutes and 3 hours. Once the tumescent fluid has been delivered, the doctor turns the suction device on and begins moving the cannula back and forth underneath the skin, gently suctioning out the loosened fat cells. This specialized suctioning tool enables the surgeon to remove precisely targeted areas of fat without disturbing the surround tissues and through short incisions, thereby minimizing scarring. There are no stitches or drains to remove.

Liposuction is an outpatient procedure, and patients return home on the same day to begin their recovery. You may wish to have a friend or family member stay with you for several days, especially if you have young children to care for, as you may need assistance with daily tasks. Most patients are back to work in about a week, though strenuous exercise and heavy lifting must be avoided for four weeks after surgery.

After tumescent liposuction, patients should wear a compression garment over the treated area for several weeks. This elastic garment supports the tissues in their new contours, reduces swelling, and promotes healing. Common side effects experienced by tumescent liposuction patients include swelling, redness, and bruising. Any discomfort can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain medications. These side effects should fade within a month, with the full results of tumescent liposuction becoming visible by the end of the third month post-surgery. The results are long lasting, as long as you maintain your weight through a healthy diet and exercise plan.

Shape Your Mind First To Lose Weight And Reshape Your Body

If you want to lose weight you have to treat yourself well, very well. You have to feed yourself the right types of food and eat the right quantities and you need to exercise. But you can only treat your body as well as you feel about yourself on the inside.

This means your thoughts, emotions and self-beliefs need to be a match.
Before you attempt to lose weight you need to get this inner mind programming working with you and not against you and then your body will follow. Most of us do this backwards.

We tell ourselves that we will feel better about ourselves after we lose the weight but it doesn't work this way. You need to feel better about yourself so you CAN LOSE WEIGHT. Becoming overweight can mean that you are not looking after yourself properly. Eating the wrong types of foods, too much of them and avoiding exercise is never going to serve you well and the outcome is you become stuck in an overweight, unhealthy, feel-bad body.

So to reverse this we need to 'fix' up the inner mind programming first so it doesn't derail you time and time again no matter how many diets or exercise programs you begin. Misinformation about nutrition, dieting and exercise can combine with some plain old self-delusion to form 'junk thinking' and if it is not changed you will continue to be 'stuck'.

When you harness the power of your mind/body connection it is a very powerful tool not only for helping you lose weight but keeping it off. Before you can begin to lose weight or accomplish any major goal you must be able to see yourself doing it first in your mind's eye. You need to believe and keep on believing that the life and body changes you need to make to achieve it are worth doing for the long-term.

This is what you need to learn and is the key to successful, long-term weight loss and health without having to go on any type of restrictive diet and yet every single traditional weight loss system on the planet ignores this aspect. Little wonder 95 percent of them fail.

The key in getting out of your own way and getting your mind to assist you with losing weight is to stay focused on the solution. Instead of focusing on the negative, what you have to give up, focus on what you are going to get by losing weight - what it will mean to your life.

After all we tend to get more of what we put our attention on. When we are overweight attention is mainly focused on food, your weight, calories, fat, diets, carbs and so on. You are focused on the problem and are negatively focused. It is all about adding to your life rather than taking away, adding things like better food choices, proper exercise and doing things to nurture and take care of yourself.

Your mind also has to be reprogrammed to start identifying more with a slimmer, healthier version of yourself rather than the heavier, less energetic and unhappier version. Only then will you automatically start believing, thinking, acting and doing the things that will bring forth your slim vision. All this needs to happen in the mind before the body will follow but once it does the magic will happen so fast it will take your breath away.

Don't think of it as airy fairy, new age fluff. It has been well proven that when your mind creates a positive expectation of success it also creates a powerful energy shift. The body and life actions (healthy eating and proper exercise) you need to be doing if losing weight is your goal begin to align with your new intentions because they are laid down in the pathways of your brain. The old roadblocks have been removed and will no longer sabotage you at every turn. Let me show you how to be successful at losing weight WITHOUT struggle. You'll be glad you did.

If you feel that overeating or eating the wrong types of foods might be a problem for you, and you would like to put an end to it and get on the fat loss fast track, grab my free 35-page report that shows you how to Outsmart Your Hunger. You can download it right now from here healthy eating

The Best Weight Loss Pills - 3 Tips to Find One

ByJane Officer

Eating cake is more appealing than eating salad. Sitting on the couch is easier than going to the gym. But giving in to your body isn't going to help you lose. In fact, it's one of the biggest reasons why people gain weight in the first place.

For those who are serious about losing weight, help is out there. However, not everything that promises to be helpful actually is. The market is saturated with products that are supposed to help you burn fat; but most of them are backed by little more than hot air. Only the best weight loss pills can and will suppress your appetite, increase your metabolism, and burn fat.

Finding a weight loss pill that really is the best is difficult. Almost every manufacturer claims that their product is the best; even when it isn't. The following 3 tips will help you see past the smoke and mirrors that advertisers put up, so you can find the real best weight loss pills.

1. Look for Proven Ingredients

Many manufacturers use ingredients that they think will work. Emphasis on the "think". These aren't the ingredients that are going to help you lose weight. The ingredients you should be looking for are those that have been clinically tested.

In clinical tests, some participants take a daily dose of the ingredient in question and others take a placebo. If an ingredient is effective, the people who take it will lose a lot more weight than those who take the placebo. Smart manufacturers use these ingredients because they've been proven to work.

Some of the best clinically proven ingredients are Green Tea extract, Irvingia Gabonensis, Cissus Quadrangularis, Caffeine Anhydrous, Chromium, DiCaffeine Malate, and Synephrine HCI.

2. Look for Proven Amounts

Using clinically proven ingredients isn't enough. The best weight loss pills also need to use clinically proven amounts. These are the amounts that were used during clinical tests that produced results.

The tricky thing about amounts is that each ingredient needs a different one. You can either do some research on the ingredients or read customer reviews. If most reviews are positive, the pill probably has the proven amounts of key ingredients.

3. Try the Product Risk Free

If a product doesn't work, it's not your fault. So why should you have to pay for it? The people who make the best weight loss pills offer 100% money back guarantees so you can try their product risk free.

Not only does this show that they care about making a high-quality product, it shows that they are confident in their product and its ability to produce results.

Finding the best weight loss pills (see below) takes a little work, but it will pay off. Clinically proven ingredients and amounts will suppress your appetite, increase your metabolism, and burn fat. Since you can try the best weight loss pills risk free, you really have nothing to lose but weight!

Experience Quick Weight Loss With Parkour

Since the sport's recent development in France, parkour is used all over the world by men and women seeking quick weight loss results. The sport, hobby and disciple of parkour are based on the art of moving forward, going over or under any obstacles that get in your way. Focusing on speed and efficiency, parkour involves running, jumping, climbing and rolling around complicated obstacle courses to burn calories. Weights and any other gym equipment are not necessary. While it can easily be performed alone, it never hurts to have a friend or experienced parkour instructor to train you on the best moves and locations to exercise. Participants, known as traceurs, can exercise almost anywhere, and create their own paths according to difficulty. In other words, you can get your parkour workout on Venice Beach, along the mountaintops of North Carolina, or around the noisy streets of Manhattan.

Practicing parkour for quick weight loss can be straining on you and your body. It is demanding, and parkour requires endurance training. You need strength and good cardio abilities, as well as a basic knowledge of parkour moves. In an instant, you have to stop your sprint, get on the ground, roll over, jump back up and immediately begin running again. Safely executing the routine for quick weight loss is easier said than done, and takes plenty of practice.

Parkour will workout your upper body, as well as your legs. Before beginning the exercise, make sure you can do plenty of push-ups and pull-ups. Your abs have to be strong too. While building muscle all over your body, parkour trains your heart and lungs as well. Exercising with short sprints, along with longer runs for hundreds of feet at a time, is excellent for elevating your heart rate, as well as building your leg muscles. Meanwhile, parkour demands the agility of a gymnast. After all, you need to keep your body fully balanced on raised obstacles.

As soon as you become familiar with your own parkour routine, you can add to the workout's complexity. Besides running, dropping and rolling and jumping, you can exercise with vaults. To perform a monkey vault, you place both hands on an obstacle, and put both legs into a squat. Then raise your hips, and pull yourself over. In the lazy vault, you rely on one hand to swing your legs over the obstacle. Your second hand swings behind your body to supply balance and propel your body. To perform a side vault, put both hands on an obstacle, and swing forward with your legs held up 90 degrees into the air. There is even a Jackie Chan vault. These parkour moves require precision, so never dive right into the deep end without plenty of practice.

There is no one textbook or how-to guide of parkour moves. It is up to you to create your specific routine. It may be through your city's streets, or perhaps it will be on a nearby mountain. Make it fun, make it scenic, and make it adventurous. Parkour can be ideal for your quick weight loss routine.

Since reaching my forties, I have grown extremely overweight. I have to quickly trim down before I have a heart attack. So I decided to ask my family doctor how to lose weight fast? He wrote me a prescription for HCG Injections, and recommended physical activities, such as parkour to see quick weight loss. I had never realized just how much fun I could have with weight loss. Thanks Doc!

3 High-Fat Foods That Will Help You Get A Flat Stomach

People are much more aware nowadays about good nutrition, and also about the pros and cons of having fat in your diet. For instance, it doesn't always follow that by eating fat, you will get fat. On the contrary, fat (in the correct proportion) is seen as an important part of a healthy diet. It's also important for things like your blood sugar level and to ensure that your hormones are in balance. But what is not so well known, is that some foods with a high level of fat content, can actually help you to get lean...

1. Healthy chocolate (that is, dark chocolate with a high level of cacao. It's also great for satisfying hunger pangs - just 2 squares (40 calories) can have the same effect as, for example, a piece of apple pie, or a slice of chocolate cake (500 calories).

Dark chocolate with a high percentage of cacao can also have a high fiber content, and the sugar content can be relatively low. A good rule of thumb is to look out for chocolate bars whose fat content is the same or higher than the carbohydrate content - those ones are the best quality (from a dieting point of view).

There is another advantage of dark chocolate - it sometimes contains theobromine, which is an antioxidant. This has been shown to help lower blood pressure, among other health benefits.

Also, dark chocolate of this variety will have very low impact on blood sugar, compared to other sweets.

You could avoid all the calories while benefiting from the antioxidants and fiber - how? By using unsweetened cocoa powder (organic) in a "smoothie" or adding it to your own recipes - but this may be a little bitter for your taste.

2. Coconuts contain healthy fats. The milk and oil are great sources of a healthy saturated fat called medium chain triglycerides (MCT). These are converted to energy by your body more readily than other types of fat and are less likely to be stored as body fat. MCTs also help to bolster your immune system because of a component called lauric acid.

3. Butter - yes, real butter that is the produce of grass-fed cows, contains healthy fat and you don't need to avoid it to lose weight. It's to be favoured way above margarine, especially the awful processed margarine that is sold today. Real butter is full of nutrition - and of course, it's delicious too!

The Best Diet Is No Diet: How to Lose Weight Without Dieting

Diets are big business. Diet food is big business. Slimming products are big business. If we are going to talk about diets, you need to understand first and foremost that there is a ton of money to be made from the people who are desperate to lose weight and searching for answers. It is this very desperation which the makers of diets, knowledge and slimming products prey on.

In fact, the term "dieting" has become so distorted it's hardly recognisable from the very first patients in the 1800's whose doctors recommended dieting for the overweight condition they found themselves in.

If you have ever thought slimming products were the answer, you were being scammed. If you think the machines shown on infomercials are the answer, you are being scammed. If you think that counting calories is the answer, you are being scammed. If you think that deciding whether to spend your daily points on a slice of chocolate cake or a piece of lean sirloin is the key to losing weight successfully, you may just spend your entire life on earth being scammed.

How about the cookie diet? The cabbage soup diet? Fat free diets? Carb-free, protein free diets? How much longer will you allow them to scam you? The key to understanding what I am trying to say, is that you must never, ever believe that a diet program is going to change you, that it's going to change the way you relate to food. And this leads to the point of the article: the overweight problem is not about counting calories, or depriving yourself. The real problem is the way you relate to food.

Diet programs never seem to ever focus on this aspect; they only ever concentrate on what goes into your mouth. But if you have every been on a diet, you know that you may lose weight initially, but more often than not, all the weight you lost climbs right back on. Why? Because the root cause has not been addressed, and after a while, you fall off the wagon, put everything you lost back on, and most dieters have said they put on even more weight afterwards. This really should start telling you something. I am inclined to believe that most diet programs are designed to keep you coming back, or they are created by the 5% of the population who actually do manage to stick to a diet and lose the weight. It is these people who are able to give the raving testimonies of diet programs and slimming products. Do you believe me yet? For your sake, I sincerely hope so.

Let's get to the root of the overweight and obesity problem: if you are overweight, your lifestyle needs to change. The way you relate to food needs to change. You are relying on food to satisfy an emptiness inside you. Change the way you think about food, add some self-discipline to the mix and your life will forever be changed. You will lose weight without thinking about it. You will lose weight without feeling deprived. You will lose weight because you will eat less and exercise, and these two components are all you need to lose weight permanently.

I do however, understand that because it's a huge change, some guidance may be necessary:

1. As I have already mentioned, losing weight permanently is NOT about what you eat. It's about what's eating you.

2. To succeed, you must focus only on root causes, never on symptoms: why are you overweight in the first place?

3. Dieting does not work: clinical weight loss research has identified 12 specific things people do that have consistently been shown to lead to safe and lasting weight loss. Yet dieting is not even on the list! Nor are diet drugs, metabolizer pills, calorie counting, exercise machines, self-starvation, lo-cal foods, or weight reduction surgery.

4. Self-deprivation ALWAYS backfires.

5. Willpower has nothing to do with weight loss! Willpower is useless as a weight loss tool because it puts you at war with your own "hidden agenda," which is a product of unconscious motivations that mere willpower can never hope to control.

6. Food - any food - must stop being a reward or used for entertainment.

7. To succeed, you MUST involve your body, mind, and spirit: we are not just body, but body, mind, and spirit. As, alien as it may be to our thinking, the spiritual aspect of our existence is actually the most potent of the three, and the true source of our power to make change. Unless all three aspects of your being are involved and aligned toward your goal, lasting weight loss will almost certainly elude you. You need to seek God your Creator to help you, as He knows the true reason you are overweight and why you have not yet succeeded in achieving your goal. Those who neglect his vital step will more than likely find themselves forever searching for the "best diet".

8. The emptiness inside that you seek to fill with food, is actually a yearning for God. If you fill the emptiness with the things of God, you won't rely so much on food.

9. Set a realistic time frame: you didn't gain the weight overnight, and you can't healthfully lose it that way, either.

10. Become self-disciplined. This is probably the hardest step that needs to be conquered - how to dish up smaller portions, and exercising regularly.

11. The body needs exercise. If you don't exercise you may not lose weight at all.

Will I Lose Weight If I Stop Eating Meat For a Week?

I suppose you mean you're going for a vegetarian diet for 7 days and see if it can help you lose weight. Couple of points I would like to clarify.

1. Animal meat can indeed do more harm than good since it leaves tons of acidic ashes after digestion. Not only that, animals produce toxins under extreme stress, fear, rage or other negative emotions when they're slaughtered for food. These toxins will mingle with the meat and go right into your mouth. Oh, don't forget that if the animals are not reared organically, growth hormones and antibiotic residues will enter your body too.

Because of so much damaging stuff getting into your body causing hormonal imbalance and metabolic disorder, cutting back on meat does help to improve your health a lot and thus, fix your metabolism to help lose weight. But 7 days of meat-free diet is not enough to see much weight loss result especially when your body has been heavily intoxicated in the past.

7 days of vegetarian diet, at best, can help you flush out certain portion of toxic waste. Your body needs to be cleansed at least 50-70% (depending on individuals' lifestyle) before you can start losing weight.

Hence, I suggest making a vegetarian weight loss meal plan for 4 weeks. This should help you lose some good pounds. But keep it going because once you go back to your meat diet, toxins will accumulate and metabolism goes into disorder again, and the vicious cycle continues.

2. Vegetarian diet may not guarantee weight loss because calorie still counts. If you do not track the quantity of calorie going into your body, you can easily heap on excess calories and therefore, gain weight. On top of that, you must know how to make your vegetarian weight loss diet tasty. If not, you wouldn't have the mindset to continue with the diet for fat loss.

Having said that, go find some free vegetarian weight loss diet and learn about the mix-and-match of the ingredients. From there, you can simply follow the meal plan, swap or adjust the ingredients to suit your palate and needs.

If you decide to go without a vegetarian meal plan guide, then you must make sure you eat nutritiously because consuming the right nutrients for your body aids in boosting metabolism. In short, vegetarian diet works for weight loss provided you have both the correct calorie intake and nutrients for your body.

How to Lose Weight - By Savouring Your Food

In this age of hustle and bustle, where we seek fast fixes for our problems, few people take the time to stop and savour, anything let alone our food.

Most food that we know we shouldn't eat is literally shoved in our mouths. Fast food seems to have to be eaten quickly. Weight loss needs to be fast and easy. But these things aren't working, so why not try a different approach.

Eating quickly doesn't give you enough feedback as to when you have had enough. It takes about 20 minutes for your satiety centre in your brain to tell you, that you have had enough.

By which time you could have eaten much more than you need to. When people feel they are craving a food they usually stuff themselves. This gives little pleasure. So why not try a different approach.

In mindfulness meditation one exercise is to hold a single sultana in your mouth for 15 minutes, and explore every aspect of it. While this is a useful exercise in itself, we don't need to be quite as intense.

What I suggest is to simply serve yourself a smaller portion than you normally would. Then just eat each mouthful slower than you normally would. But the important thing is to savour the flavour.

Notice the textures, the subtle and not so subtle flavours, and just give yourself the time to enjoy what you are eating.

If you treat food as fuel and you just fill up, like putting petrol in your car. Then the experience can be one of getting in as much as possible as quickly as possible, and then getting on with your day.

But if eating your food is a sensory experience, where you allow yourself the time to enjoy each bite, and you give a little thought to the fact that you are being nourished by this food. Then the internal physical and mental process is very different.

Physically your digestion will be grateful, rather than lumps of food in your stomach you will have a nice soft properly masticated pulp, which is much easier for the stomach acids to further digest.

Mentally, you gain more pleasure from less food and you will feel more satisfied and less likely to go back for seconds. Focussing on being nourished will make it more difficult to consume junk foods as it is quite a stretch to imagine being nourished by a hot dog or a donut.

Weight loss involves many factors, but this simple act of savouring your food is an important component of any successful ideal weight programme.

The Truth Behind Holiday Weight Gain and What You Can Do About It

For many of us, the period from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day is often a continuous parade of holiday parties, family dinners, and social hours.

Even if you can keep your weight on target for the rest of the year, by the time we get through the holidays, we're left talking about the "Christmas 5" or the "Holiday 7" and again wondering what weight loss program to start with in January.

The year-end holiday season is definitely where most of us struggle with weight management. But even worse news is that weight gained during this time tends to stick with us, so that even slight gains of the season add up.

The most-quoted research in this area was completed by the doctors at the National Institutes of Health. In that study, 195 people were tracked in detail before and after the holiday period, with further weight tracking at intervals up to one year later.

That study shows that the "average" weight gain of all study participants over the 6-week holiday period was just less than 1 pound.

That sounds good, but digging a bit deeper, the study shows that those who were already overweight posted bigger weight gains. In fact, almost 10% of the study participants recorded a whopping 5 pounds or more gained over the 6-week holiday season!

Comparing these seasonal weight gains with weight measurements made one year later highlighted a good news / bad news story.

The bad news was that any weight gained over the 6-week holiday period tended to stick around for the whole year and form the basis for new weight gains in the next year. Despite the average weight gain of just 0.8 lbs during the holidays, that average gain increased to 1.4 lbs by the time the holidays rolled around again the next year.

As bad as it sounds, there is good news in this data - it shows that most of our weight gain for the entire year is packed on in the 6 weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year's. This means that if we can avoid the problem of holiday weight gain, then we have eliminated most of the weight gain problem - all in one fell swoop!

But eliminating the holiday weight gain - even if it is just over a 6-week period - is no small feat.

The most typical advice given is just that - advice: someone else telling you what to do and what not to do. The big tips that come around as advice pretty much every year include:
Watch your serving sizesAvoid sugary or fatty snacksAlcohol calories count tooDon't forget to exerciseEtc., etc.

All of it is just advice - do this, don't do that.

However, another group of scientists have found that relaxation therapy with embedded messaging for the reinforcement of healthy eating has been highly effective.

Randy Clusiau agrees. He recently lost 170 lbs just by using this type of relaxation therapy.

We agree too, and recommend that you check it out for yourself. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how well it works.

Discover The Advantages Of Interval Training

BySteven Clayden

There are many advantages of interval training and you will start to discover them as soon as you begin your cardio sessions. This type of training alternates high-intensity workouts with those of lower intensity. Interval training is practiced frequently in the world of sports. Many coaches use this technique to increase the heart resistance of athletes, especially runners.

Cardio training brings about many benefits. If you would like to start this type of exercise, learn more about the role of interval training in keeping your body functional. Read further and you will find out all there is to know about the main advantages of rgis type of training.

Lose weight faster

Weight loss is one of the most obvious benefits, if you decide to engage in the practice of cardiovascular workout sessions. In the modern society, many people have problems with their weight, mainly because their lifestyle is sedentary.

Boost the health of your heart

People who are loyal to the practice of interval training claim that they noticed an increase in their cardiovascular efficiency. Basically, this means that their heart has developed the ability to deliver more oxygen to the working muscles. Such changes enabled them to improve their day-by-day performance, with increases in their speed and endurance.

Keep injuries to a minimum

If you thought that the advantages of High intensity training are nearing to an end, you were wrong. Numerous researches point out that this type of training enables people who practice these workouts to avoid bruises and injuries, which are normally connected to repetitive overuse. In addition, intervals allow people who train to increase the intensity of their workout, without the risk of exhaustion.

Decrease the number of calories

Advantages include a significant loss of calories, as well. Trainers who teach interval training to their customers claim that the more vigorously you exercise, the more calories you will burn.
No special equipment required

You do not have to make additional expenses in order to begin your training. A simple pair of stretch pants and a comfortable T-shirt will do. The main focus would be on the way you perform the indicated interval training exercises.

Stimulation of lactic acid

The effectiveness of intensive training can be seen in the production of lactic acid during practice. The more lactic acid you produce, the better the body will adapt to the high intensity intervals. Thus, in a short period of time, you will be able increase your resistance and strength before fatigue or pain start to show.

Please note that interval training is not just for anyone. For instance, if you suffer from a chronic health issue, it is advisable that you stay away from this type of training. The same advice remains valid if you fail to exercise regularly. However, if you are determined to benefit from interval training sessions, make sure that you consult your doctor first. He or she will be able to tell you for sure whether this is a good idea or not.

All in all, this type of workout will contribute to your overall well-being, which is the greatest of all the advantages of interval training.

How You Can Ditch Those Yo-Yo Diets For Good

Like many other people you may be tired of going on endless diet plans and although you may lose some weight at the start it always ends up piling back on again. It's not much fun, is it? Don't worry though, you are not alone, diets don't work for around 95 percent of the people who embark on them and they fail to lose any significant amount of weight for the long-term either.

You may not be aware but the reason diets don't work is that they actually work against your metabolism (your body's engine). It's a fact your body does not like diets at all, and will do all it can to help you to fail. If that isn't bad enough, when you go 'off' your diet your body does its best to restore you to your previous weight usually with some extra as well.

The reasons why you have become and stay overweight are based in your habits, particularly in regard to nutrition and proper exercise. You may be eating the wrong types of foods, too much of them and avoiding exercise and when these things combine it is virtually impossible to remain slim and toned.

You may not even realize it but your habits are like a 'template' in your mind. Hidden patterns of thought and self-beliefs shaped over your life dictate your behaviour and drive your actions (or inaction). This template has a set procedure for "every circumstance" and it just happens automatically without you 'thinking' or 'choosing'.

If this 'mind' template has been formed with misinformation and inherited wisdom about nutrition, dieting and exercise together with some plain old self-delusion losing weight is always going to be a struggle.

Even though you may have good intentions and are fully aware of the healthy changes you need to make that old template is going to override those good intentions every time. This is the self-sabotage we see with stop/start, on/off, yo-yo diets and exercise programs and the pattern is repeated continually causing frustration and misery. Engaging in a battle with yourself can never have a happy ending.

What really needs to happen is those old templates in your inner mind programming need updating so they are a match for what you want to have happen on the 'outside' of your body. If it is a slim, fit, healthy, feel-good body that you want then you need to make some changes on the 'inside' first so you can get out of your own way and achieve it.

Take it from me, your inner mind programming can greatly influence and affect your weight and your health - both short term and long-term. The trick is to know how to make the way you think and what you believe work for you, not against you. Being 'in the know' about why things happen to you in regards to losing weight will make it easier for you to understand what you need to do to put things right.

First we need to find the obstacles and roadblocks in your inner mind and then we change them to more positive and focused thoughts and self-beliefs that will serve you better.

To sum up how it all works - it is about getting to know YOU a whole lot better and there are some simple facts you need to know about how YOU work. This better understanding gives you the control to make the healthy changes that you need to make to lose weight and more importantly KEEP IT OFF.

There is no need for you to be living in an overweight and unhappy body and there is no need for you to live a life plagued by endless diets - it does not have to be this way. Imagine what it would be like to be slim and healthy. It's a great thought, isn't it? But you can make it more than a thought - you can make it really happen and I can help you do that.

The idea that your subconscious mind may be actively blocking your conscious efforts to lose weight can be hard to swallow at first. So in addition to revealing my top 4 secrets to effective weight loss, I have included in my free report "Visualization Secrets For Weight Loss Success" a section on how mastering your subconscious mind through visualization can make all the difference to your level of weight loss success.

Overcoming All-Or-Nothing Thinking to Achieve Your Weight Loss Goals

If you feel stuck achieving your weight loss goals, you may be experiencing a thinking error known as all-or-nothing thinking. In this article you'll learn about how this type of thinking interferes with your goals and gain specific strategies to counteract this thinking.

While you may have the perfect plan for how to reach your ideal weight, what really makes the difference between success and failure in weight loss is how you respond when you steer off the plan. Maybe you overate, maybe you skipped a day of exercise, maybe you indulged in a little late night snack. Whatever the case, these are the critical moments when you will decide whether to get back on track, or throw in the towel and give up hope.

It's amazing how quickly hope turns to despair and all your plans, no matter how much progress you've made, become like distant dreams. You may have lost many pounds or gone down several sizes, but even so, it's a single slip up that seems to contradict all your past successes.

When you take a single piece of negative evidence and judge yourself on it, you are experiencing all-or-nothing thinking. No matter how much success you've had in the past, a single failure weighs more heavily on your internal scales of justice. As a result, you see yourself as a failure and your plans impossible to achieve. You find yourself with negative thoughts such as the following:

"I'll never lose weight."
"I'll always be overweight."
"There's no hope for losing weight."
"If I don't lose weight I will never be happy."

Once you notice that you are thinking in this way, what can you do to counteract this kind of thinking? One of the most straight-forward ways is to examine the evidence that supports your negative thinking. Fold a piece of paper in half. In one column, list the evidence in favor of your negative thought. In the other column, list evidence that does not support your negative thought. Once you've done so, decide whether your negative thought is completely true.

Another strategy to help counteract all-or-nothing thinking is to imagine what you would say to a friend who made a similar action. What would you say to him or her? Would you condemn him or her, or would you offer kind words of support?

A third strategy for overcoming all-or-nothing thinking is to imagine you are in a court of law, presenting evidence to a judge. Once you've presented all of the evidence (it's helpful to make a list of positive and negative evidence), what do you think a judge would say? Would the judge tell you that you will NEVER lose weight? Or would you receive a more balanced judgment?

All-or-nothing thinking can prove a major obstacle to weight loss. Overcoming it just may be the key to your staying firmly in control of your plan and not losing sight of the overall goal.

Is Healthy Eating For Weight Loss The Standard American Diet?

The standard American (or Australian or English) diet, or SAD for short, really is sad. There is no concept of health, nutrition, toxicity, weight gain or the diet best suited to the way you evolved. It seems the only aspect of concern is speed and taste. Of course these are important considerations, but so too are the others.

Let's examine these in more detail.

Healthy food is full of nutrients. It supplies your body with all its needs to prevent every conceivable illness, or to heal them. Yet not only is your food lacking in nutrients by the way it is farmed, the processing of de-naturing, emulsifying, colouring, flavouring, extending the shelf life and many more procedures are harmful.

Heat is used extensively and kills off many of the essential nutrients. Chemicals are used to flavour, colour, preserve or as catalysts, which increase the toxin levels in your body. De-naturing natural foods make them hard to digest and assimilate as well as creating mischief in your body.

An example of de-natured food is sugar. Sugarcane is a healthy food. As is the blackstrap molasses, the first by-product in the sugar processing. But sugar is very unhealthy. So are all the chemical sugar alternatives. On its own, sugar cannot be digested. So to digest it, minerals are pulled from your body. Minerals that are essential to a healthy body.

Don't consider for one minute that government agencies protect your food properly. They may prevent some of the really dangerous methods of food production, but not the less harmful ones. You have to look no further than the GM issue to realise that. Even that is considered by many to be one of the most harmful foods there are.

Chemicals which increase the toxicity in your body can come from the air you breathe or the cigarettes you smoke. But they also come from your food. In an effort to try to limit the damage to your body, they are stored in fat, in the organ systems, in the connective tissue, wreaking havoc, creating disease.

The SAD completes ignores the diet humans have evolved on and operate best on, which is the healthiest diet. This diet gives you more energy, more resistance to disease, greater peace, an optimum weight, greater ability to cope with stress and a longer, healthier life.

Aim for healthy eating to bring your weight down and increase your health.

Essential Things You Should Know When You're Diabetic and Want to Lose Weight

It would be better to call type 2 diabetes a special disease than a serious disease. Diabetes develops stealthily. At the pre-diabetic stage you won't feel symptoms. You might feel fatigued now and then especially when you've eaten too much of those fine processed carbohydrate foods. Gradually, you'll feel chronically tired; feel pain in your chest; your hands get numb; your vision gets blurred or minor wounds heal so slowly. When you experience these symptoms, you suspect diabetes.

So, it won't come as a surprise when your doctor gives the diagnosis. You know it might be diabetes as you think of those wonderful delicious sweet and fatty foods you've been used to and the doubling of your weight in such a short time.

You're told that it can't be cured with a dose of pills. Your doctor explains that lifestyle changes can benefit you - lose weight, eat a sensible diet, portion control, exercise and daily blood glucose tests. First things first, your doctor referred you to a dietitian so you can be counseled on the right diet. This is tough you tell yourself.

Here are things you should know when you're diabetic and want to lose weight.

1. Take this seriously. Some diabetic patients don't care. They think diabetes can be cured with pills but unfortunately they may not work well if their diet is made of finely processed carbohydrates and fatty food.

2. Know the right foods to eat. Your dietitian can help you here. Get a list of food you can eat. Print it. Post it in your kitchen, workplace and bedroom. Keep a list in your bag.

3. Refer to this list every time you buy food or eat out. You can memorize this list too. Stick to it.

4. Know how many calories you should consume daily. Your dietitian will talk about servings. How many servings of veggies and fruits, carbohydrates, fats and protein should you eat in day? Your dietitian will introduce you to the food pyramid. If you aren't familiar with this, grab a copy and study it well.

5. Learn to use common objects and compare it with servings.

6. Learn to cook with a minimum of fat. Instead of frying, it would be better to grill or boil. Cook with oils low in unsaturated fats such as olive or canola oil.

7. If everything else is confusing, use portion control plates, glasses, cups and bowls. Portion control dinnerware can greatly help you measure your servings.

8. Develop a healthy eating habit. Social experts say that creating a healthy eating habit will assist you to develop a pattern that will last a lifetime. Initially, creating this habit will be tough. However, once you've mastered this, you'll do it automatically. This will help you reach your goals of losing weight and controlling your blood sugar.

You've got to realize that a diabetic's diet doesn't differ much from the normal diet. You can still have that dessert but in small servings, you can still eat meat but in moderation as prescribed by your dietitian. And yes, start to develop a habit of portion control and healthy eating.

A B Stephens is a chemical engineer by profession. Her passion to help diabetics stems from the fact that members of her family and her husband's are diabetics. They launched http://www.typefreediabetes.com in 2007.
