Healthy Eating Choices - Being Polite Can Make You Fat

How can being polite can help you pack on those extra holiday pounds? It is not something we think about often, but being polite or considerate of other people's feelings can actually help us pack on more pounds than we care to think about. The real question is "How to stop gaining weight?" and still be polite when people are shoving food at you during the holidays.

Being polite does not help you lose weight. Especially during the holidays or at gatherings where there will be lots of food. We all over do it. We make our special dish for everyone to enjoy, then we fill our plates and eat to our hearts content. That's just the way it is during the holidays or at gatherings where food is served.

We make a lot of choices and decisions every day. It is part of life and during the holidays, we have even more choices to make. One of these concerns the dreaded holiday weight gain that we put on so easily, but lose with much difficulty. When there is a lot of delicious food available, how much we eat is entirely our decision. We know that if we eat too much, it can stay on our hips or belly for a very long time,

Holidays are a time when we all tend to eat too much. How many times when you go to a party, family gathering or just out to a smorgasbord, have you said, or heard someone say, "Man, I'm stuffed". But, consider this, eating too much is a choice, just one of the many choices we make every day.

The biggest problems:

1. We make too much. We all have three or four favorite holiday dishes that we know everyone just loves. So we make three or four dishes because, well, we love them and have a burning desire to make them happy. What better way to make them happy than with delicious food, lots of delicious food.

2. We eat too much. When we go to a holiday gathering, we sometimes feel obligated to try a little (or a lot) of everything. Think about how much food most people eat when they go to a buffet. The idea is to get as much as you can for your money and the food is so good anyway. And just look at that dessert bar. Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm.

3. Most of all, we don't want to hurt the feelings of the person that made their special dish (that's being polite). After all, they spent all that time preparing it, the least we can do is sample it, just to make them feel good about bringing their favorite dish.

What can we do about it?

We know that most people will overeat during holiday gatherings, and there are some simple things that you can try:

1. Find out how many people are going to be at the gathering. Many times, we prepare dishes without considering how many people are going to be there. And sometimes, children eat less than adults.

2. Don't make a lot of food. You don't have to feed an army. If everyone is bringing a dish, then there will be enough food, without any going to waste or anyone overeating.

3. Put smaller portions on you plate and leave the rest of the food for others (that's being polite). After all, how much you eat and how full you want to get is your choice. Make it a good choice and you just might avoid the anxiety that comes when we realize we have put on four or five pounds.

4. Help your guests by serving the food on smaller plates. People will usually eat as much food as they put on their plate. Smaller plates mean more trips to the food, but there will be more time between servings to allow the food to reach the stomach and send that "please, I'm full, no more food" signal to your brain.

How much we eat is a choice we make every day. You can make it easier to keep the holiday pounds off by looking at the choices you make during the holidays and every other day. It is your life, make the best choices you can and enjoy the holidays.

Avoiding holiday weight gain is all about making good choices about how you eat and how much you eat. It is exactly the same as any other time of the year, but with more temptation thrown at us. Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Exercise, And Then Some

Muscle Soreness
When you use your quadriceps, your muscles will get the sorest, since it is the largest muscle group in your body. Whenever you use that muscle in a different capacity than you're used to, you'll experience some kind of soreness. However, once you do that exercise anywhere from 3-6 times, your body will adapt and you'll find that the soreness does not continue when you're exercising in that way.

Variety in Your Workouts
There a lot of really great reasons to switch up your workout routines. One reason is so that you don't get bored. When you're repeatedly doing the same thing, it becomes almost a habit and doesn't keep your mind's attention as well as a new workout would. It also keeps you from doing a routine out of habit, which can lead to inattention and potentially even an injury. Varying your workouts also allows you to use the muscles in a different capacity. For instance, there are 3 muscles in your triceps and 2 muscles in your biceps. Each workout is going to touch those areas differently. It's also good to get used to variety in case your needs change or you have an injury. If you're used to constantly changing up your workout, it will be easier to transition to a new style of working out that suits your needs.

Working with a Trainer vs. Group Classes
A trainer can pinpoint exactly what you need to be doing to get your body in the shape you want it. They can tailor exercises to suit your body, which is a major plus. They'll also help you discover what kinds of exercise you enjoy doing, so that you can do your workout on your own and still have the motivation to do so. Group classes, on the other hand, are really great because you have the camaraderie of other people who are doing the same workout you are, no matter how grueling it might get. They're also on a regular schedule, so if your schedule changes, you can catch a class earlier or later in the day, or even the next day. Working out with a trainer or working out in a group class both provide amazing physical benefits and will get you the body you want. Which one you choose is really up to your preference. Some people enjoy the companionship of others in their classes and some people enjoy working one-on-one.

How Often?
The minimum you should exercise is 20-30 minutes, 3 days a week. Of course, you can always shoot for higher. Gradually work your way up to longer workouts and more frequency, but don't push yourself. Always keep in mind what your body is capable of doing. You know your body better than any professional out there. The incredible thing about exercise is that the more you do it, the more you want to do it. Especially if you're finding new exercises that you enjoy doing.

Cardio vs. Weight-Bearing
A lot of women focus on cardio and a lot of men focus on weight-bearing activities, have you noticed that? If you really want to get fit, you need to do both. Cardio is any exercise that gets your heart rate up. You should be able to talk to someone else, but not really hold an entire conversation. This can be anything from bicycling to kickboxing. Weight-bearing activities are any kind of exercise where you're using the muscles in your body. We typically think of this as weight-lifting, but even walking can be a weight-bearing exercise if you consider that you're not sitting or lying down. Be sure to fit in both kinds of exercise each week.

Stretching
There has been a lot of hype and confusion about stretching, kind of like the newest diet fads. Stretching is really important and here's what you need to know about it: you only really need to stretch at the end of a workout, during your cool down. Before working out, though, you need to warm up. You can do this by doing sidesteps, marching in place, and circling your arms. This loosens up the muscles and gets them ready to go. If you don't warm up before a workout, you can risk pulling or straining a muscle.

The Best Type of Exercise
Here's my biggest secret: the best kind of exercise you can do, is one you enjoy doing. That's it. If you like doing it, it won't seem like a chore, which means you'll do it more often and for longer periods of time.

Food and Exercise
Food is really up to the individual. The best way to find out what to eat to get your body in shape is to work with a nutritionist or a health coach. They can help you figure out which foods are best for your body, since there is no blanket, one-size-fits-all diet. Even protein intake isn't the same for everyone. It really just depends on your body type. In terms of eating before and after workouts, you want to make sure that you do eat something before you work out, especially if it's in the morning. You don't want to eat a huge meal that's going to make you feel uncomfortable when you're working out, but you do want to have some kind of sustenance in your stomach.

When You're New to Working Out
The biggest complaint trainers hear from newbies is that they're hungry. Now that you're working out more and you're burning more calories, your body needs more nutrition. That doesn't mean that after every workout you need to go polish off a bag of potato chips. It just means that you need to find healthy snacks that will keep you nourished and satisfied, like a handful of almonds or string cheese.

Water
A standard measure for the amount of water you need is to drink half of your body weight in ounces every day. Of course, this also depends on the individual. If you're working out more, you need more water. If it's hot out and you're sweating a lot, drink up. If it's dry outside and it's drying out your skin, you need to drink more. The best way to tell if you're drinking enough water is to look at the color of your urine. It should be a pale yellow or even clear; darker than that and you're dehydrated. You can also hop on a scale before and after a workout. Any difference in weight will be because of water. For every pound, drink a cup of water.

Losing Weight and What We Eat

Do you have a fast metabolism? How lucky are you? It probably has nothing to do with what you are doing or not doing. The fact that you can eat anything you want and not gain weight, if that is the case, may all be due to inherited genes. Studies have learned...

According to a study in the "Journal Nature, those of us who claim we can eat anything and not gain weight have the advantage in their special genes, and those of us who do not have the special genes, are more likely to become overweight or obese."

"Dr. Phillippe Frogue of Imperial College, London in a study he spearheaded said: This is the first genetic cause of extreme thinness to be identified".

If we are overweight, though, we still have the responsibility of looking out for ourselves and the way we do this is by watching what we eat and exercising.

Every day we have the results of different studies that are being conducted today regarding our health. The bad news is, one of the latest studies tells us that for every hour of TV watching, we lose 22 minutes of our life, the reason being that it turns us into couch potatoes say the study scientists, because we do not exercise enough. "But while smoking rates are declining, watching TV is not says Lennert Veerman, a researcher in the Australian study."

Don't forget that living a sedentary life style contributes to heart disease, obesity, diabetes and other health problems. The good news is that for every 15 minutes a day we work out, it adds up to three years to our life.

Nutritionists suggest that we eat based on the food pyramid which states that we should eat more fruits, whole grains and vegetables; in moderation, eat hard cheeses, Yogurt, lean meats, nuts and eggs; and consume less sugars, margarine, oils, and butter, although these are necessary, they should be eaten in sparingly.

Do not forget that what we eat affects our general health; stop eating processed meats, hot dogs, meats that are full of chemicals and nitrites used to enhance the color of the meats and prolong their shelve live; hamburgers that are saturated with fats, fried foods, sodas and excessive sodium and sugars.

Try eating more whole grains, vegetables, preferably frozen, they keep their nutrients longer than the "fresh" ones which are shipped to us from one place to another and by the time they to us, they have lost most of their nutritional value. Fruits, (but watch out for those that are high in sugar), eat more legumes and be very aware of your portions. Try reducing your plate by one third; do not take seconds, especially if your purpose is to lose weight.

Do not skip breakfast, it is the jump-starter of your metabolism, eat smaller meals several times a day to keep your metabolism working, if that is not your style, then have a mid-morning snack, and a mid-afternoon snack so that you are not starving at meal-time.

Don't forget that we eat to live, we don't live to eat!

3 Great Tips That Will Lead to Permanent Weight Loss

If you look around you, you will see that the world we live in different from the one that existed 30 or 40 years ago. Today people are living more time-pressured lives, with greater numbers of single parent families and with family members living further apart than ever. The result is a much more stressful world with less family support and more overweight people than every before. Whilst I haven't done a scientific study, in simply looking at the people in life around me, I am sure that the cause of weight gain and obesity is often caused by emotional eating. Different people have different levels of sensitivity, meaning that people feel emotions to different degrees. If we don't learn how to manage these emotions, then what can happen is that we end up succumbing to emotional eating or comfort eating. In this article, I'd like to offer 3 essential tips on ways to stop overeating.

As someone who has struggled with her weight all through her adult life, I can tell you that I have enough experience of the pain of gaining and losing weight to share with all of you! The million diet variations that are out there offer promises of voluptuous bodies if only you stick to eating 400 calories, or no carbs, or only cabbage soup, or whatever other magical solution is out there. People who struggle with their weight are often viewed as lacking willpower by those who don't gain weight easily, yet it just isn't that straight forward. Emotions play a much bigger part in our health and well-being than most people are aware of, and so it is that they also have their own role in emotional eating.

Having thin people tell you what you should and should not be eating is difficult when they haven't ever been overweight by more than a few pounds. They simply don't understand what a difficult journey this is. So be assured that I am not someone who has had an easy journey in this regard! I also haven't mastered this aspect of myself either, so the tips on ways to stop overeating I am offering are those I have learned and am implementing, but really the journey to long-term takes time and cannot be rushed. There is no 'fast weight loss' promise here.

3 Essential tips for you on ways to stop overeating

What I do know is that you are likely to be someone who is sensitive to what goes on within and around you. You may not be aware of this because we often aren't taught to listen to our own bodies, which is where the emotions become feelings. And you also have within you everything that you need to succeed in losing your excess weight. So here are my 3 essential tips for you on ways to stop overeating:
See a counsellor. Often the emotional problems that we are holding on to stem from past experience such as unresolved grief. A professional counsellor will help you to get to the underlying cause of your pain, distress, unhappiness, loneliness - or whatever it is that troubles you. They will also be there for you week in and week out supporting you on your journey to emotional freedom and ultimately to weight loss. This is where you will need to invest some time and money - and before you say, 'Oh but I can't afford a counsellor', how much have you spent so far on diets that didn't work?
Listen to your body. Diets don't work. One of the reasons for this is that someone is imposing rules around your eating on you. You get to choose your own rules by tuning in to your body and only eating what your body chooses. Be wary if you find your body telling you to eat cake or chocolate or crisps all the time - that's not your body!!! Your body will choose what it needs to be healthy and only enough to sustain itself. If you realise you've made the wrong choice, then stop eating that food - don't take another bite!
Every morning write down what you will eat that day. This is a tip I got from Angela Stokes-Monarch who is a wonderful raw food educator. The first thing to do, every day before breakfast, is to write down everything that you will eat during that day. This way you can consciously plan to eat healthy food and then when you are drawn to eating something that isn't on your list, you will know that you are being pulled by your emotions and not by your physical need for food.

These three tips on ways to stop overeating will make quite an impact on your whole life. They put you in control of your eating and they help you heal the root cause of your unresolved emotions. This is your life and no one can make any choices for you - that is your responsibility.

The Diet Solution Program - Is This Your Solution?

Like many people, you've probably tried lots of diets and had limited success. You might lose a few pounds only to regain the weight. You've probably tried programs that left you feeling like you were starving. You've probably also tried grueling exercise regimens that were time-consuming and exhausting. Yet, you found you still didn't have the results you wanted.

The Diet Solution Program was created by Isabel de los Rios, who is a certified nutritionist. Her goal for the diet is to help people live healthier, more fulfilling lives and get them away from the cycle of yo-yo dieting. This program is different from the fad diets that are so common in modern society. For starters, this program offers guaranteed results. The program is realistic. It doesn't call for overly realistic diet plans that sap your energy and leave you feeling hungry all the time. The program also doesn't require you to do long workouts that are difficult to fit into your busy schedule. It's a program created for real people who want to see quick and lasting results.

One helpful aspect of the program is that you'll receive specific shopping lists. This will help you ensure that you've got the right foods in your home for making healthy meals. The specific portion size you need for each food item will be calculated for you so you won't have to figure that out yourself. The program is full of delicious and varied recipes. You won't get bored or tired of eating the same foods over and over. Boredom is a common stumbling block for dieters. You'll get specific meal plans for every day. This will take the guesswork out ofeating.

You'll be eating healthy, familiar foods on the diet. The meats and fishes you'll eat will all be wild or natural as these are the best for your body. You can eat organic eggs as well. You can eat a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and nuts. In addition, many natural grains are recommended. There are a range of natural oils you can use for cooking and flavoring. The diet advises against many overly processed grains like white flour and starchy vegetables like potatoes. Dieters are also advised to steer clear of cereals and whole grain breads. These foods will not help you reduce your body fat. Instead, the diet steers you towards foods that will trigger the fat-burning hormones in your brain. The diet steers you away from foods that you must avoid to keep your body in its top fat-burning condition.

The Diet Solution Program is so popular because Isabel takes such a realistic approach to dieting and exercise. She doesn't expect people to add hours and hours of exercises to their already busy schedules. Instead, she recommends moderate amounts of exercise. People will see results from the diet without incorporating exercise. She helps people understand how to eat in a healthy way that promotes a fast metabolism. Her diet doesn't make people feel like they are starving so they are much more likely to achieve success.

What Is Starvation Mode?

Many people come to me in a state of complete bafflement and confusion with questions about starvation mode. They've read something here or there, been told something by their local neighbourhood meatball in the gym, or heard about it on an infomercial. With all the different opinions and different viewpoints on the issue, it can be extremely difficult to differentiate between what's fact and what's fiction. The internet isn't much help either, as there are so many uneducated people who are all too willing to tell you their usually uneducated opinion. I'm going to try to clarify what's what in this article when it comes to starvation mode, leaving absolutely no room for error.

There are two sides to the starvation mode battle. The first claims that if you don't eat enough food everyday, your body will respond by rapidly slowing down its fat burning metabolism. They claim that your body becomes extremely efficient in the absence of calories, and actually reduces the number of calories your body needs to operate normally. Why would it do this? Quite simply, because it thinks that there is a famine going on. It has no idea that there is probably a fast food joint down the road from you. It is preparing itself for starvation, thus the name.

The flip side of the coin is, people die everyday from starvation. It's a horrible, but truthful reality. People who don't believe in the starvation mode claim that you only have to turn on your television and look at the news for proof. After all, how could starvation mode exist if children are dying every day from lack of food? This truly, at least partially, the starvation mode claim cannot be completely true.

So where do the truth lie? As with many things in life, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. It is true that people die from starvation, so your body cannot indefinitely maintain a state where it doesn't use many calories. It's also true that not eating does have an effect your body, and metabolism slow. In reality though, your metabolism only slows a slight amount. It is true that your metabolism will rev less slowly if you don't feed it with a constant flow of nutrition, but it's very subtle. It's certainly not enough to stop starvation, and it's also not enough to stop significant weight loss.

So, is starvation mode a myth? Sort of. Starvation mode exists, it just doesn't live up to its reputation of bringing fat loss to a halt. The most efficient way to lose weight? Avoid starvation mode, it won't hurt you, and it might give you that extra 5% that other people don't have. Try to eat something small every three hours, like a protein bar or a banana. These are perfect to fill in the void between meals and keep your body out of starvation mode.

Obesity Facts and the Toll They Take On Your Emotions

If you are obese, you know the emotional pain that is associated with being overweight. The United States of America has one of the highest obesity rates in the entire world. Along with the physical aliments that may come with obesity, you may experience a wide range of emotions. Anxiety can also occur when struggling with obesity. Let's take a look at a few obesity facts and how they can contribute to the emotional side of obesity.

In a nation where you are surrounded by beautiful thin people in many different social media situations, there is a huge demand to be thin. However, one obesity fact tell us that this same nation has one of the highest obesity rates in the entire world. Individuals who are obese in the United States not only have to deal with their own internal negative self-thoughts, but the hurtful words from others as well. Many times young children that suffer from obesity also endure bullying at school. Many young people are very into stars and fashion icons that tell them that being thin is the way to get what you want. This further reinforces their negative thinking. Children and adults that suffer from obesity may have many negative thoughts about not being good enough. This can be a daily struggle for them.

Another obesity fact is that some forms of obesity are genetic while others comes from environmental and emotional origins. Shame is a very common emotion that is felt by those that have developed obesity through overeating. Overeating usually takes place during times of emotional upset. These binge eating episodes can be embarrassing. Many people tend to not tell others of their struggles with food. This can lead to an internal battle within themselves. Many times just talking with someone who understands can make a huge difference in that person's life.

Some believe that people who have an unhealthy relationship with food and are classified as being overweight have a higher rate of anxiety. Not all people with obesity have anxiety as well, but those that do have anxiety find it difficult to be in social places. This could be due to their own internal feelings of not being adequate. They may also feel that others are talking about them while they are out in public. Learning to love yourself despite your size is one of the top areas to learn during treatment.

If you struggle with obesity then using a method of dieting that does not focus on weight, but rather on loving yourself is important. By using a non-diet approach to weight loss you can begin to lose the weight in a natural and healthy way. On top of that, you will begin to develop a healthy relationship with food and yourself.

Slimming Drugs and Protocols Do Not Target the Cause of Weight Gain

A diet high in simple, refined carbohydrates and saturated fats over stimulates oestrogenic activity and fat cells. When deficient in vitamin B6, these fat laden cells swell up with fluid. The fatter you get, the more oestrogen you make out of androgenic hormones like testosterone. Often men fall prey to excess oestrogen and have only their eating habits to blame. Excessive oestrogen shuts down thyroid activity and your system becomes sluggish and more resistant to exercise or any form of fuel burning.

Hormones can make you fat!

It gets worse when insulin resistance sets in due to an excessive and almost continuous intake of sugar and refined starches. When cortisol activity increases as a reaction to prolonged stress signals your waistline expands. Inflammatory responses and systemic acidity take their toll. By eating comfort foods like chocolate and craving more sugar in search of elusive "energy" you become morbidly obese. When insulin; the sugar processing hormone, cannot pump glucose into hungry cells it converts glucose into triglycerides to reduce blood sugar levels. Up goes the blood pressure, but do you really think this is from hardened arteries? Not yet. But blood vessels that are damaged due to vitamin deficiencies do make use cholesterol for repair work.

It is odd to be asked: "I am on blood pressure and cholesterol medication and I take Glucophage for my blood sugar. I am overweight so would your slimming product conflict with my prescription?" These are the classic 4 symptoms of insulin resistance known as syndrome X. How funny, then to think that the first warning signal is usually elevated blood pressure and one expects a heart medication instead of hormonal investigation. At this stage caloric restriction, low fat and whole grains will not get the hormonal cavalcade back into line. Stress starvation also sets in and reactive weight gain is the result, especially if you take appetite suppressants.

The most popular letters I receive come from frustrated people who have "tried every diet and slimming product". There is no diet that will work for everybody. Don't be fooled by claims! When suffering from an allergenic addiction to soft drinks, chocolates and cookies full of wheat can any of us really eat the foods we love? To seriously slim down requires a firm mind set and commitment to continue the discipline regardless of excuses. You also have to undertake detoxification protocols prior to embarking on a diet.

An eating plan that really suits your body type as well as blood type, hormonal requirements and lifestyle is a specialised undertaking. If you are serious about your condition then it is best to consult with a registered Dietician or Naturopath to do the fine tuning. Medications begin to clash with dietary improvements or supplements that lower blood sugar or blood pressure naturally. Experts need to wean you off the drugs instead of dismissing the natural solutions to syndrome X.

Regular monitoring of your progress will give you courage as well as confidence. Doctors are not supposed to prescribe medications or hormones if the patient's kidneys or liver are not healthy or there is a history of heart disease. But do they? Are you warned about the side effects - weight gain, bloating or blood thickening? This is why your food needs to become your medicine and that includes the way it affects your hormones.

The more your selection suits you, the better you will look and feel. After detoxification we can begin to load the correct food and micronutrients into a clean body with a healthy liver, digestive system and kidneys.

Six Easy Tips to Eat Healthy at Restaurants

ByKhamsinh Chinnalath

Eating healthy or losing weight does not have to mean perpetually eating home-cooked food and sacrificing all social life. You can dine out with friends or colleagues at restaurants and still maintain a guilt-free diet plan. All you need is a sense of moderation and a strategy to implement it. Here are a few tips that would help.

1. Drink a glass of water and eat a fruit like banana, avocado, or apple before you set off for the meal. This will ensure you're not ravenous when you begin to order and can do well on healthy choices instead of the greasy stuff.

2. When ordering sides, check if fries or mashed potatoes can be replaced by a simple salad. This keeps the calorie count down and adds important vitamins that are essential for good health.

3. When ordering drinks, remember that wines work well with meals when drunk in moderation. Check the sugar in non-alcoholic beverages before ordering them. Bottled fruit juices have undesirably high sugar content. Order fresh-squeezed ones if available. For drinks like lemonade, ask for the sugar syrup on the side and use according to taste. Plain water is the healthiest drink you can order and it also lets you enjoy your food to the maximum.

4. If you're a meat lover, by all means go for that steak once in a while. But remember to stick to lean white meat like fish, chicken, and turkey. These are good for your heart and your general well-being. Instead of fried meats, choose grilled recipes flavored with herbs and spices rather than fat.

5. Avoid salads with rich, creamy dressing. Go for vinaigrette or other varieties containing the heart-healthy olive oil. Ask for your salad without processed cheese and fried bacon because these add calories without nutrition.

6. Last, but not the least, check portion sizes. If the food looks more than what you normally eat for a meal at home, get some of it packed right away. Indulge your pets if it is suitable for them or eat as leftovers lunch the next day. Just because the portion size is large does not mean you have to finish it at one sitting.

If you follow these tips, there is no reason for you not to enjoy all kinds of food at restaurants. The key is a degree of restraint. Once you master it, it would help you maintain a healthy diet despite eating out often.

Good Diets Are Designed for Permanent Weight Loss

People who want to lose weight often ask themselves how to know whether they have found a good diet to follow. A good diet is one that allows you to maintain your goal weight for life. Many current diets do not allow people to lose weight permanently. Good diets usually have two important components; they do not limit food, and they help you improve your self-image. To find a good diet, we must first look at why fad diets do not work.

The current fad diets are based on deprivation. You are expected to deprive yourself of your favorite foods. Not only that, but you the food that you are allowed to eat has to be consumed in small amounts. This type of diet does work to help you lose weight quickly. Does the fact that you can lose weight quickly by following these plans make them good diets? Most diets do not allow you to experience permanent weight loss. It is suspected that up to 95% of diets end in failure, and their participants gain their weight back. One reason you lose weight with most diets is because of the limitations placed on you. When you are limited, your natural cravings end up taking over. When you are attempting to lose weight, your focus should not be on your weight, but on improving your self-image.

A good diet is one that does not limit the types of food that you can eat. When you limit yourself from eating foods that you will love, you may begin to lose weight. However, it is very normal for a person using these types of diets to eat "off limit" foods eventually. This often results in overeating and weight gain. A good diet should not encourage you to continue overeating; it should encourage you to begin listening to your body. Your body is aware of what it needs. By eating what your body needs and stopping when you are full, you can begin to lose weight and keep it off.

Diets that focus on weight loss instead of on improving your self-image do not promote long-term weight loss either. When you become overly focused on how much weight we have lost, we can lose track of ourselves. You may spend all week dieting and doing well. You believe that you are going to lose a significant amount of weight. Weigh in day comes and you do not lose as much weigh as you thought that you should have lost. This become extremely frustrating and can make you feel like giving up. If you continue to not lose weight as quickly as you want, you may stop dieting and gain back the weight. Good diets should focus on learning to love yourself no matter what size you are. This will help you feel accomplished and keep you on track.

Finding a good diet that allows for permanent loss does not have to be difficult. A non-diet approach to weight loss works by teaching you to listen to your body and eat what your body needs. This type of diet does not limit the types of food you should eat. It focuses on self improvement and acceptance of yourself for who you are. Finding and following a good diet can help you lose weight for life.

How to Lose Weight Even at Christmas

ByCyril Pourideme Dery

Attempting to lose weight like any pursuit of life is challenging; you will surely meet your ups and downs on this journey. Your most disappointing moments usually come in times of festivities, when there is that uncontrollable urge to go on an eating binge. So what should you do in such circumstances?

The first thing to do is to write your weight loss goal somewhere you can often see it; this acts as a reminder that you have a target to meet. You can write it on the door of your bedroom, the door of your fridge or even on the dashboard of your car. This reminder note will keep you in track so that you don't backslide even when the temptation is so great for you do so.

Just because you are in a festive season doesn't mean you should excuse yourself from your exercise regimen. It is known that most people gain extra weight during festive periods such as Christmas. During these times we find so many reasons why we can't continue our dieting plan, why we can't afford to exercise as we use to. Excuses always come to those who want to use them; please don't be one of such people. Remember you've made a commitment to yourself to take off those extra pounds of weight; you can't disappoint yourself and still look yourself in the mirror each morning, can you?

Should you be so strict on your food intake? The answer is no, provided your situation is not a matter of life and death. Sometimes being too strict on something makes you rather vulnerable. Simply because you want to lose weight does not mean that you should say good bye to all food types and only stick to one. It just means you should cultivate a healthy eating habit, minimising the quantity of fats, sugar and perhaps the carbohydrate consumed while increasing your consumption of fruits, vegetables and water. These are natural healers essential for any weight loss programme.

So if you occasionally fail to control your eating, what should you do? I suggest two natural remedies to that situation. Garcinia cambogia extract and green tea are two effective herbs to consider. Garcinia cambogia is a plant from the citrus family. Its sour extract for weight loss management is popularly known as hydroxycitric acid. This natural extract works by ensuring that your body gets the required energy needed. Once this is done, it signals the brain that body has enough energy and hence cuts the urge to continue eating. Hydroxycitric acid essentially regulates your appetite, so that you eat just the right quantity of food your body requires to function normally. There are no known side effects associated with it.

Green tea doesn't regulate your eating as garcinia cambogia extract does, but it increases your body's metabolism rate to expend more energy. The good thing about this natural tea is that it increases metabolism without increasing your heart rate, making it suitable for people with heart conditions. Since more calories are burnt, there is less to be stored as fat. Another added advantage of using green tea is that it contains antioxidants which are needed for boosting your body's immune system against diseases. Green tea is however noted to contain caffeine, so it is not advisable to take it with coffee.

I know how daunting it can be to embark on a weight loss plan, but make the effort especially during the festive period to maintain your discipline and commitment to achieve your weight loss goals. If you can't follow any regimen at all, I believe you can follow the simple points I have given.
